MicroNIR PAT-U
Compact NIR spectrometer for process control

The MicroNIR PAT-U is the most compact spectrometer of the proven MicroNIR PAT series. It is easily installed via USB, a separate power supply is not necessary. The PAT-U can operate as a reflectance spectrometer in contactless mode at a sapphire glass window port or in direct sample contact via an extension immersion probe. It cost-effectively and reliably monitors chemical reactions in real time.
Advantages
- Robust process probe with IP protection class 67.
- Proven Linear Variable Filter technology with no moving parts inside.
- Maintenance-free system with long-life tungsten lamps for cost-effective use.
- Includes MicroNIR PRO software for model generation (PLS, PCA, MBSD, SMV) and spectrometer control.
- GMP-compliant (USP<1119>, EP2.2.40, 21CFRp11) validation documents.
- Also available as ATEX version for safe use in EX zone 0 (20).
Areas of application
- Reaction monitoring in real time
- Drying and granulation processes
- Tabletting
- Classical chemical reaction monitoring
How does the MicroNIR PAT-U work?
The MicroNIR PAT-U works with near-infrared or NIR spectroscopy. This established laboratory method has been adapted for the compact sensor: Energy is irradiated in the form of light onto the analyte (solid, liquid) under investigation. This light is somewhat lower in energy than the visible range of sunlight and excites the molecules to vibrate. The radiation reflected by the analyte is analyzed. It provides an indication of the structural composition, since some of the incoming radiation is absorbed in a molecule-specific manner. More about NIR spectroscopy.
What makes the PAT-U so unique?
The compact dimensions allow installation even in difficult places. Connection is possible via typical industrial ports in various inch sizes. Alternatively, separately available weld-in kits can be used. Due to the design without optical fibers and moving parts inside, the spectrometer is very robust. It operates via USB without a separate power supply. With the included software for model building, the spectrometer is quite inexpensive.
Feasibility studies & chemometric support
Process analysical technologies benefit those who use a first-class spectrometer and create reliable chemometric models.
We provide support in evaluating the feasibility of analytical issues, e.g. with trial measurements in our laboratory or at the customer's site.
For more detailed studies or complete chemometric modeling, we work with partners who are absolute experts in this field, e.g. S-PACT from Aachen or LabCognition from Cologne.
In this way, customers receive a complete package to get off to a successful start in PAT.
