AlloyChecker

AlloyChecker

Laser-Based Metal Analysis in Seconds

The AlloyChecker is a lightweight handheld analyzer for alloy analysis. The device uses LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) technology and provides extremely fast and precise identification of metals. It can analyse all alloying elements in steel, aluminium and other metals. The system is designed for quality control, inspection, positive material identification (PMI) and scrap sorting. This is beneficial for manufacturers in the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as many other sectors, and for recycling companies, metal dealers and inspection firms.

LIBS technology is straightforward and can be used by anyone after a brief training session. The Class 3B laser does not require a licence, but the company must appoint a laser safety officer.

Benefits of the AlloyChecker

  • Tests metal in just one second.
  • Expert mode takes five consecutive measurements for improved precision.
  • Measures aluminium (Al), silicon (Si), magnesium (Mg), beryllium (Be) and lithium (Li), as well as other light elements. Available in various calibrations.
  • Weighs only 1.25 kg
  • No argon required; no X-rays.
  • Very low maintenance requirements.
  • There is no cross-contamination.
  • The editable material table stored in the device.
  • Simple type standardisation.

Areas of Application

The AlloyChecker is the ideal device for the positive material identification (PMI) of different metals

The AlloyChecker is particularly well-suited to rapid sorting in recycling and for cross-checking during goods receipt.

  • Excels at ‘difficult’ tasks: wires, small parts and welding wires.
  • Analysis of finished products: the μ-burn mark is virtually invisible.

Typical materials

  • Aluminium alloys, V2/V4, NCT and chrome steel.
  • Brass, bronze and red brass.
  • Nickel alloys
  • Titanium alloy
