ASBpro Asbestos Scanner

Detect asbestos on site in seconds.

ASBpro mobile Asbestos Scanner with a reading indicating the presence of asbestos

The ASBpro is a handheld near-infrared (NIR) scanner designed for rapid on-site asbestos screening. Weighing just 150 g, the device features intuitive operation via a smartphone app, enabling multiple measurement points to be examined in a very short time. If asbestos is detected (failed screen), sampling or laboratory analysis is not required. This saves costs and enables immediate action to be taken, eliminating the need to wait for laboratory results.

Why on-site asbestos screening makes sense

Asbestos is not harmless. Incorrectly assessing suspected areas can result in enormous follow-up costs, risks to employees and the environment, and a lengthy laboratory process.
With ASBpro, however, you can minimise these uncertainties. A quick scan is all it takes to classify suspicious materials in advance. This saves time, reduces the need for unnecessary laboratory samples, and provides immediate asbestos guidance.

The ASBpro is designed for the rapid on-site detection of materials containing asbestos and can support risk-based classification in accordance with die German Technische Regel für Gefahrstoffe: Asbest TRGS 519 (Technical Rules for the hazardous material asbestos).

Positive results justify a precautionary classification as containing asbestos within the meaning of the German LAGA M23 (11/2022). Confirmation that a material is free of asbestos is possible only through laboratory analysis.

ASBpro: advantages at a glance

  • Identifies asbestos fibres in real time: Find out if there is a risk in under 10 seconds..
  • Provides clear PASS/FAIL results: Make quick decisions directly on site without spectroscopy expertise.
  • Improved employee safety: Non-destructive NIR analysis is safe and does not require sampling.
  • Smart app for measurement and documentation: Intuitive to use and can be used offline.
  • Automated PDF reports: Includes spectrum, sample photo and all measurement data.
  • LAGA-compliant rapid procedure: Positive findings are classified as containing asbestos immediately.
  • Cost savings: No unnecessary laboratory samples and fewer delays.
  • Compact and mobile: It weighs only 150 g and fits in any pocket, making it ideal for use on construction sites, for demolition work, recycling and inventory.

Areas of application

ASBpro supports anyone who needs to quickly identify asbestos in the field.

  • Housing and building stock (e.g. prior to renovation).
  • Demolition and dismantling projects.
  • Delivery checks at recycling centres.
  • Emergency inspections (e.g. after fire, water damage).
  • Pre-sorting in laboratories.

Rapid asbestos analysis in accordance with LAGA guidelines.

The use of NIR (near-infrared) spectroscopy as a rapid measurement method is explicitly described in the LAGA (Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft Abfall, German Federal State Working Group on Waste) guidelines: Suspicious components or suspected hotspots can be classified in advance using methods such as NIR screening. This means that if the ASBpro delivers a result, the material is considered to contain asbestos. Further sampling for laboratory-based asbestos analysis is then unnecessary for these samples. This is particularly useful for making asbestos-related decisions in practice.
