TruScan G3 – Handheld Raman Spectrometer
Qualitative analyses – new gold standard for establishing identity
The new TruScan G3 handheld Raman spectrometer continues the success story of the globally successful TruScan RM. The G3 measures through transparent and even many opaque containers, which prevents contamination. In addition, the spectrometer minimizes the time and cost of sample extraction and laboratory analysis. The result of the unambiguous PASS/FAIL test is available directly on the container in a matter of seconds. The G3 fulfills the new, stricter EP requirements for spectral quality and can therefore be safely validated in compliance with pharmaceutical regulations. New features such as touchscreen, WiFi connectivity and battery hot swap make work even more efficient. The immersion probe also enables fast processing of drums and IBCs.
Advantages of the TruScan G3
- Battery-operated, small and handy – enables analysis directly in the incoming goods department and wherever a quick test is required.
- Non-destructive measurement of solids and liquids through transparent and many opaque packages – eliminates the need for sampling and laboratory analysis.
- Intuitive operation and clear results output – can also be operated by employees without a scientific background – relieves the burden on highly qualified laboratory staff.
- Efficient processes: measurement time determination, selectivity check during method creation and report generation are fully automated – reducing the risk of operating errors.
- GMP and pharma-compliant – guarantees fast implementation and safe use in regulated industrial environments (21CFRp11, USP, EP).
Areas of application
The TruScan G3 enables a wide range of different applications::
- Identity detection/confusion check
- Detection of unknown substances in ID mode (new)
- Outgoing inspections
- Complaint processing
- Anti-counterfeiting
How does the spectroscopic Raman PASS/FAIL test work?
Raman spectroscopy recognizes substances based on the specific signals in the oscillation spectrum. The laser only needs to be held up to the container or substance and the Raman signals generated are automatically compared with the database entries. With the G3, this matching is not carried out using the simple and error-prone similarity test (“Hit Quality Index”), but with the stricter p-value approach. This also takes into account variable factors such as ambient light and therefore delivers robust and reliable results. The p-value approach is also very popular with auditors because it significantly reduces the risk of an incorrect incoming inspection.
What makes the G3 unique?
The G3 makes incoming goods inspection even more efficient: The new touchscreen enables faster manual entries and the innovative battery change during operation (“hot swap”) brings greater efficiency for processing large quantities of containers. Data can now also be transferred quickly and securely via WiFi and the new dipping probe can also be used to check drums and IBCs. The new ID mode is also available for the detection of completely unknown substances.
