Precious metal analysis
All that glitters is not gold
Gold bars, coins, scrap gold, jewellery or dental gold - the currently high gold price makes it very attractive to sell old treasures. If the seller intends to give the customer a good feeling about the sale, he or she must create transparency and trust in the correct handling of the transaction. A simple, precise and reliable testing method is a good basis for that.
X-ray fluorescence perfect method for precious metal analysis
X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) is a proven analytical technology. It can be used to determine the fine content of gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium and other elements. Numerous refineries, renowned jewellery manufacturers, jewellers and many buyers and dealers of precious metals already trust this method.
Advantages of XRF when buying precious metals
With XRF spectrometers, the analysis of gold and other precious metals takes only a few seconds. They deliver exact contents in percent with up to 2 decimal places. Optionally, the gold content can also be read off in carats or as fineness. In addition to the actual precious metal content, the components of other base metals are also shown in one single analysis.
Damage to the pieces through grinding and the use of test acids is no longer necessary. This simplifies handling considerably. The analysis takes place in the sales room, so the customer can keep an eye on his valuables the whole time.
Even coins or bars that would lose their value due to damage can be tested with this method of analysis.
Detecting gold plating
The AuDIT function also examines the item of jewellery for any gold plating that may be present. If gold plating is detected, the device displays a warning. If necessary, further examinations can follow then.
Further areas of application
- Quality assurance in jewellery production
- Exclusion of mix-ups
